Welcom Message

June 2014

Greetings from the President

会長

Dear Friends and Colleagues,

On behalf of the organizing committee, I would like to thank you for your continued support of and cooperation with neurosurgical research and treatment.

The 13th International Conference on Neurovascular Events after Subarachnoid Hemorrhage will be held in Japan during Thursday, September 17 and Saturday, September 19, 2015, at Karuizawa Prince Hotel West (Karuizawa, Nagano Prefecture).

The 1st International Conference on Neurovascular Events after Subarachnoid Hemorrhage was held in Jackson, Mississippi (U.S.A.) in 1972. The objective was to clarify the pathological condition of cerebral vasospasm, which occurs after Subarachnoid hemorrhage (SAH) and has a grave impact on prognosis, and develop treatment methods. The conference is now held every two years, and the topic is not limited to cerebral vasospasm, having developed into a scientific meeting that studies various complications that follow SAH from various angles.

More than 300 leading researchers from a wide variety of fields—including not only neurosurgeons but also vascular physiologists, neuroscientists, emergency medicine physicians, and stroke researchers—convene for the conference and present the results of their research. It is a meaningful scientific meeting that has a significant impact on the enhancement of the outcomes of the treatment of SAH.

This is the first time in 25 years for the conference to be held in Japan since the 4th International Conference on Neurovascular Events after Subarachnoid Hemorrhage of 1990. We are again expecting to see more than 300 participants and have chosen “Methods and results of vasospasm—treatment in your hospital, past & present” and “Possible therapeutic measures of cerebral vasospasm in future based on the basic research” as the conference themes. Many Japanese professors and neurosurgeons will be participating as members of the organizing and scientific committees to ensure success of the conference in Japan.

I do hope that many people will join us at this meeting and look forward to welcoming you to Karuizawa, Nagano, Japan.

Sincerely,
Tomio Sasaki, MD, PhD
